Yocona River Boykins
A truly versatile American Gundog for the homes and fields of the American Hunter.

Welcome...
to Yocona River Boykins.  Located in the rolling hills of North Mississippi, just
outside of Oxford, MS.  We have been involved with Boykin Spaniels for over 17 years.
We feel that Boykins are truly the most verstile gundog of the 21st century.  Whether
you hunt dove, waterfowl, or upland gamebirds.  The Boykin Spaniel can do it all,
though smaller than a lab, they can also  retrieve the occassional goose.

Some Boykin enthusiast even use them to track downed deer.
Known as "The dog that won't rock the boat", due to the dog's size, you can
physically lift the dog, duck, and all into the boat with one hand without
fear of capsizing.  Extremely gentle by nature, the Boykin is very easy to train,
even for the amateur.  They are best trained using positive reinforcement
rather than some of the drill sargent ways required for some gundog breeds.

Yocona River Boykins is also a Gundog training facility specializing in Boykin Spaniel training.

Here at Yocona River Boykins, we are 100% dedicated to maintaining the Boykin Spaniel
as it were originally bred to be, a hunting dog first and foremost.
We do not participate nor condon the actions of others that wish to use these wonderful
dogs as sled/weight pulling dogs, only so they may get a ribbon and collect a title.

We are members in good standing with the Boykin Spaniel Society, the only official
registry for The Boykin Spaniel.  So if you are looking for a dog that is as much at home
with your spouse and children as it is in the field, the Boykin Spaniel is the dog for you.
Thank you for taking the time to view our site, and if you ever want to talk
about Boykins or hunting, please do not hesitate to give us a shout.

Even though the primary use of our
Boykin Spaniels is for hunting, as
they were bred to do.  We do
run in HRC-UKC Hunt Tests.  This
is a great way in the off season
 to evaluate our training and
to also keep our dogs in top
physical condition year around.
